An elegant, high quality mantel clock with half hour/hour strike and calendar, case lavishly decorated with mother-of-pearl
Case: ebonized wood, front, sides and top part decorated with little square mother-of-pearl plates, back veneered with burl wood; sides decorated with gilt bronze fittings in the form of a goat feeding on grapes; four moulded disc feet, gilt bezel, heavy gilt handle. Dial: silvered, inlaid radial Roman hours, blued Breguet hands. In the lower part is a square window inlaid with brass, and two inserted silvered dials: the left shows the day of the week in French, the right shows the date with Arabic numerals; blued hands. Movm.: circular brass full plate movement, gilt, 2 barrels, 1 hammer / 1 bell, locking plate, anchor escapement, silk suspended short pendulum with transport locking device. Additional rectangular brass movement for calendar indications.
