Dial: silvered, signed, aperture for digital Roman hours, seconds at "12", central minute indicator, blued steel hands. Movm.: solid trapezoid-shaped brass movement, weight driven, Graham escapement with adjustable steel pallets, heavy grid-iron pendulum, pendulum spring suspension.
Johan Heinrich Friederich Schaeffer was born in Mecklenburg in 1807 and died in 1872 in Blovstrød in Denmark. Schaeffer apprenticed in Sternbert in Germany and passed his master’s exam in 1833, producing a pocket watch with duplex escapement. In 1845 and 1851 he is recorded as watchmaker to the court working at Kongens Nytorv 212 in Copenhagen.
