A rose-cut diamond-set gold enamel pendant form watch with concealed dial designed as a scarab
Case: 18k gold and enamel, French import mark for 18k gold 1838-1893. Dial: enamel. Movm.: heart-shaped bridge movement, keywind, cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance.
The spring-loaded wings are decorated with translucent red enamel on engine-turned pattern and studded with rose-cut diamonds; the Champlevé style neck has matching ornaments. The head and the hinged belly are realistically chased and engraved, the eyes are represented by two diamonds. Inside the cover a picture can be inserted behind a glass panel; heart-shaped gold dome.
