A splendid rococo-style mantel clock with quarter hour/hour strike and quarter repeater
Case: ebonized wood, ormolu mounts: rocailles, laurel wreaths, acanthus, musical instruments and mascaron. Glazed sides and front, detachable top part with a statuette of Cupid playing a triangle. Dial: brass, firegilt, lavishly chased and engraved with rocailles, white enamel chapter cartouches with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, two white enamel signature cartouches. Movm.: rectangular brass full plate movement, 2 hammers / 2 bells, double cord/fusee and chain/fusee, short pendulum.
Jürgen Abeler states that Johann Albrecht Lerb is listed as a clockmaker and citizen of Regensburg in 1745.
