Presumably South German, "Ano 1645", 105 x 105 x 81 mm, circa 1645
A one-handed square cased table clock with hour self strike
Case: brass, firegilt, the sides with screwed on windows, four gilt brass lion-paw feet, rear bell. Dial: brass, firegilt, laborious florally engraved, applied silver chapter ring with radial Roman hours, single iron hand. Movm.: square massive brass movement, chain/fusee, 1 barrel for striking train, 1 hammer with engraved head, locking plate, ratchet wheel set-up, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance.
The horizontal dial is intricately engraved, with summer flowers around the edge and a central scene with a landscape with fisherman outside the gates of a large city with buildings, spires and turrets.
