Universal Genève "Tri-Compax", Case No. 1247501, Ref. 22536, Cal. 287, 37 mm, circa 1945
An astronomic Geneva vintage wristwatch with chronograph, blue tachy scale, moon phase and full calendar for the French market
Case: steel, push back. Dial: silvered. Movm.: 3/4 plate movement, Glucydur screw balance.
There is no doubt that the Tri-Compax is the most iconic watch the company Universal Genève ever produced; the model was first introduced in 1944.
The steel case is fitted with rectangular chronograph pushers and three correctors on the left for setting the day of the week, the month, the date and the moon phase. The cream-coloured dial has acquired a charmingly aged patina that provides a gentle background for the luminous Arabic numerals and the blued lozenge hands. This intricate watch has a 30-minute counter at 3, a 12 hour counter at 6 and a small auxiliary dial for the small second at 9. At 12, a small window shows the moon phase with the date. Below are windows on the left and right for day and month in French writing. The outer blue tachymeter scale completes the beauty of this outstanding watch.
