A striking paste-set heart form quarter repeating silver, gold and enamel pocket watch with visible balance, studded with paste stones
Case: silver, gold and enamel, paste stones, rear bell. Dial: enamel, paste-set balance below "12". Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, 2 hammers, cylinder escapement.
This exceptionally attractive heart form pocket watch is decorated with blue enamel and chased gold tendrils on the front. It is inscribed in gold "Este Corazon Te Entrego en Prueba de Mi Amor" ("I Give You My Heart as Proof of My Love"). Its back is decorated with translucent cobalt blue enamel on engine turned pattern and paillons, with a painting of Venus watching over a sleeping Cupid in the centre. The scene is framed by gold festoons.
The borders have been lavishly embellished with paste stones.
The watch company Amalric Frères in Geneva existed from circa 1760 to 1800. Amalric Frères was a partnership of David Amalric and Jean Louis Amalric, who also traded in tobacco.
