Pascal Hubert à Rouen, 58 mm, 169 g, circa 1680
A rare, one-handed verge pocket watch "Oignon" with "mock pendulum balance" and central winding
Case: silver. Dial: gilt, chased and engraved, enamel cartouches with blue radial Roman numerals, blued steel hand. Movm.: full plate movement, signed, gilt, chain/fusee, two-arm iron balance.
French watchmaker Pascal Hubert was born around 1625 and according to Tardy he became a master in 1649. He worked with Jacques Gloria Sen., who was one of the first makers to create watches without fusee. Hubert died probably about 1701.
